Adjust the Loan Principal Amount
Loan Principal Adjustment is carried out when a borrower requests to disburse an additional principal amount or requests to reduce the principal amount on an existing contract. The loan principal is adjusted while keeping the other terms of the contract unchanged, for example, rate of interest. You can increase the loan principal up to the maximum loan amount configured for the loan product.
A positive principal adjustment creates an LDT of disbursal type 'Principal Adjustment - Add' and a disbursal transaction distribution (DTD) of distribution type 'Principal Adjustment - Add'. A negative principal adjustment creates an LPT of payment type 'Principal Adjustment - Sub'.
In both cases, an OLT is created for the adjustment, which includes a reference to the LDT or the LPT. The Account Balance Details section in the contract details displays the current principal adjustments and remaining amounts. The Last Transaction Type field in the CL Contracts Details tab is updated to indicate that a loan principal adjustment was made, and whether it was an Add or Subtract action.
The new principal amount is calculated as the sum of the original principal and the adjustment amount (Transaction Amount). Therefore, if you want to reduce the principal amount, you must prefix a (-) to the adjustment amount. For example, if current principal is 1000 dollars and you want to reduce it to 800 dollars, your adjustment amount is “-200”. New principal amount is calculated as 1000+ (-200) = 800 dollars.
In case of flexible AMZ loans, the Disbursed Amount is also updated based on the adjustment amount.
The loan is rescheduled based on the new principal amount. You can keep the repayment amount unchanged, in which case, the loan term is revised. Else, repayment amount is adjusted for the remaining loan term.
When you preview your changes, the adjustment details and the revised repayment schedule is displayed. After you save them, the Last Transaction Type field in the CL Contracts Details tab is updated to indicate that a loan principal adjustment was made, and whether it was an Add or Subtract action. Similarly, the Other Transactions list displays the reschedule transaction for this principal adjustment action.
You can reverse a principal adjustment only through reversing the Other Loan Transaction. Attempting to reverse the adjustment through the LDT or LPT results in an error.
