Chart of accounts
A COAs (Chart of Accounts) is a list of accounts that a company identifies for recording transactions in its General Ledger. A company has the flexibility to customize its chart of accounts as well as adding accounts when needed. The purpose of COA is to segregate expenditures, revenue, assets, and liabilities to maintain the company's financial health. COA is replicated automatically during branch creation.
Chart of Accounts contains the following types of GLs:
Assets
Liabilities
Income
Expenses
Viewing chart of accounts
Perform the following steps to view the existing chart of accounts:
Log in to your Salesforce account.

Click the Chart of Accounts tab. The Chart of Accounts page lists all the existing chart of accounts.
Note:If your layout does not display the Chart of Accounts tab, then add it from Setup.
Adding a chart of account
Perform the following steps to create a chart of accounts:
Log in to your Salesforce account.
Click Chart of Accounts.
Click New Chart of Account.
On the New Chart of Account page, specify the values of the fields as described in the Field Reference table, and then click Save.
Importing chart of accounts
Instead of adding a chart of account one by one, you can import the default setup or create a custom one.
To import the default configuration:
Log in to your Salesforce account.
Click Servicing Configuration.
Under Accounting setup, click Import Accounting Setup.
Click Default Configuration > Import.
To import the custom configuration:
Log in to your Salesforce account.
Click Servicing Configuration.
Under Accounting setup, click Import Accounting Setup.
Click Custom Configuration.

Browse and import the custom JSON file.
Note:You can also customize the JSON file that is provided with the default configuration.
Field reference
Field | Description |

Chart of Account Code | A unique identifier for a chart of account. This code is used by the system for accounting operations. |
Chart Of Account Name | A name for the chart of account. |
Type | The template to be used. For example, Assets. |
Parent Account | The parent account for the chart type. |
Has Negative Value | If the checkbox is selected then, a negative amount must be stored for this chart of account. |
